Not-a-DIY: A "Tutu Train"

No Instructions below….lol.
I like to pride myself on creativity so often times I write down ideas that I have and yet I just have not been brave enough to share. Shoot, sometimes I just flat out don’t have the time to see if the idea will pan out. Welp, I’ve decided that from now on, I will start doing my projects. First up, is this belt designed to have a similar look to a tutu but is actually a train.  I absolutely LOVE the results. If you do not have a sewing machine, you can still make this belt using a tutorial by clicking here. I did this for fun…Results of my DIY below!

Happy Sewing!

Materials Needed:

1. A bolt of fabric

2. Scissors

3. Sewing Machine (and needle & thread)

4. Elastic Band (preferably 2 inches wide)

5. Hooks or Fastener (to close the belt)

6. Patience & Belief in Thyself!

"Baby It's Cold Outside"

If you live anywhere in the north of the country, it’s not warm….even though it’s officially spring. Ugh! This bi- polar weather is so confusing. I want to put up my winter wear but it’s just not time.  Well, I decided to mix winter and spring with this outfit. Let me know what you think!

Sweater: Vintage (thrifted)

Skirt: Love Culture

Clutch: Turquoise Soul Bags

Stylewatch: Minimalist Jewelry

For most of the country, we could care less about showing off any form of jewelry. It is so frigid outside, the only accessories we care about wearing consist of scarves, hats, gloves/mittens and any other piece that can keep us warm. Welp, there is nothing wrong with preparing for warmer months when we can actually see one accessory in particular: jewelry.

Knuckle Rings, toe rings, slave bracelets, anklets, chokers and such are of some of my fave pieces of jewelry. The most growing popular trend is the minimalist trend. With all the various fashion trends that are emerging this year in the spring and summer season, most involve plenty of detail that beg for only simplistic style of jewelry. Never over-power an already decorated outfit with excessive jewelry, accessories nor shoes. Doing so takes away from the look. No need to paint the peacock right? In fact, even the most basic outfit looks a bit classier with dainty jewelry. Remember, minimalist can mean both the style of jewelry (less gaudy) and the amount of jewelry worn.

Celebs are rocking the minimalist jewelry trend as I have noticed in recently red carpet events and runways are putting less gaudy jewelry and accessories on display. Check out the pics of my teeny tiny haul of minimalist jewelry below and let me know what you think. Ciao!

Spring/Summer 2014 Beauty and Fashion Collaborations

If you are a fashionista, you have no doubt already heard about and seen pics at least of the Peter Pilotto for Target collection. I’ve actually indulged and picked up some of the pieces that tickled my fancy. (I will expose my items later). That being said, I’ve been in anticipation of what other new collections and collaborations will debut in S/S 2014. I did some research and compiled a list that includes beauty and fashion. Mark your calendars for the collections you are most interested in because these types of releases always draw large shopping masses and what you want could go out of stock quickly! Whose collection are you most excited about?

My First Zara Experience…Going Tribal

I decided to check out Zara online since I’m nowhere near a physical store. I’ve heard about Zara for a couple years now and I finally broke down to experience the hype. So feeling like I entered a new realm of shopping lol, I checked out all that Zara had to offer. There were a few things that caught my eye but one thing in particular stopped me in my shopping tracks. I found a tribal necklace. It was on clearance which made the necklace even more attractive. I purchased the necklace and received it literally two days later. The necklace is very pretty, unique and carries an authenticity to it that is so non-trendy even though the tribal trend is strong nowadays. I was a little disappointed as it came a bit “broken”, nothing that couldn’t be fixed. The point is that I wanted to get an expensive vibe from Zara but I feel like it’s similar to shopping at Macy’s junior department. No shade. I still will shop at Zara and Macy’s in the future, lol. Please check out the pics below and leave input to let me know if you think the necklace has THAT appeal. [slideshow]
