Feeling Inspired!

Thank you for everyone that stuck around in my semi-absence. For putting up with my “here and there” uploads. But I’m back and I’m feeling inspired for once in a very long time. I have a it of advice, PLEASE take a social media break when you need it! I know I don’t normally upload a post on a Sunday but for those of you that are not swept into the Super Bowl frenzy, hopefully you’re reading this lol.

Most times, I’m not really inspired by the cold season. This time, I am. I wanted to just talk about what make me feel cozy. What I enjoy. Recently, I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to really enjoy some of the things that I have wanted to. There are goals that I set this year to enjoy things that will also enhance my life. One of those things is learning another language. You would be surprised how inspired you become just from learning another language and embracing the culture that is entangled with it. This inspiration has got me going…what has been your inspiration lately?

Bomber OOTD: Where Have I Been? & Change Is Coming?

Hi guys!

So things have been pretty rocky for me the past year (2016) as I have discussed in one of my last blog posts of 2016 but I have still been having trouble getting into the swing of things. I haven’t been able to give my full focus to my blog so I needed a brief step back. Secondly, I’ve been oddly uninspired. I feel like I hit a blogging rut. The blogging world has changed so much.

You know I’ve been considering doing YouTube videos for some years now but recently I’ve gotten more interested. That’s taken some of my interest from my blog. I’m ready to make YouTube an extension of my blog. I love doing reviews but I’d like to be able to build and share with a wider audience for my reviews.

Next, in my honest opinion blogging (not bloggers) has become so unauthentic in so many ways. Actually I hear Youtubers saying the same, that YouTube is no longer fun. For me, it just seems that blogging and Instagram has become something other than fun and genuine. Instagram is no longer as a matter of fact or natural moments type pics. Pictures are staged and over dramatized to draw in jaded consumers and “viewers”. Extra is needed to be noticed. I miss the the fun and impromptu posts. Well, I can’t complain too much because I’ve been guilty of staging photos for reviews. It’s pretty much business. Honestly, I hate staging tho. {Insert eyeroll} But how do I get back to that fun I first had?

Well, I’m working on a few things. I won’t say right now but I am. I’m excited to do some blogger collaborations this year. Just plain ol fun! In the meantime, I’m going to continue to review and do outfit posts. I love thrifting so I’ll be going back to more thrifting and posting those looks on my blog. So keep a lookout for those posts! Shall I do a thrifting series? Hmmm, let me know! Thank you guys again for sticking around!

Winter Styling: Jackets (Look 1)

If you live in America, it’s pretty much cold everywhere lol so styling is pretty much based on warmth and comfort first. But haven’t I said that before this season? I’m pretty sure I have. Well let’s briefly talk our options and how staying warm can be stylish.

One of your options is outerwear. Now this may seem obvious buuuuut (yes I meant to spell it that way) it’s not always the first thought when it comes to deciding what to wear in cold weather. Styling your outfit around a coat or jacket usually isn’t a “thing”. Coats are normally worn over a good outfit, keeping a great look muted sort to speak. Well, use your outerwear to stand out!

I grabbed this jacket from Wilsons leather years and years ago but it still is in excellent shape. Of course you can find plenty furs online now (faux furs too) but the point is that a fur is automatically a statement piece that an outfit can be built around. The rest of your look can be dressed up or down and be simple or even more decorated. I wanted a casual look so I added a pair of slightly distressed jeans, a lace detail top and gray clutch. I topped of the look with hoop earrings and boots. I’d wear this out to a casual dinner with the hubs. How would you wear this fur?

Life Hacks: Glam Girls on the Go #thestylecakelife

I thought it would be fun to do a regular series on this blog called life hacks. The reality is, not everyone has someone to give them helpful tips and useful ideas to make everyday life just a little easier. To make sure that this series remains regular, I will make this a monthly post.

To kick this series off, I’m sharing a cute and stylish kit that will help with those girly emergencies. This product was actually a gift from my hubby. Truly a thoughtful gift because I love being prepared. If you don’t exactly buy this kit, hopefully it helps someone and gives them an idea of what to build for an emergency kit. Anyhoo, let’s discuss what’s in this one…

The set includes:

-1 mini sewing kit

-4 adhesive bandages

-4 earring backs

-30 clear bands

-30 lint sheets

-1 lip balm

-24 bobby pins

-3 makeup remover wipes

-2 elastic ponytail holders

All of these items are enclosed in a small makeup bag style pouch with a cute metallic gold polka dot print. The plus? Reuse this pouch with more items for an emergency kit or simply use it for sanitary napkins/tampons or even convert the use to a small makeup bag. Either way, you really can benefit from grabbing this little lifesaver on the go. I would even recommend adding a pantyliner to this kit. For those on the road travel or even air travel moments, for those concert nights, a sleep over, or just to store in the car and at the job. These kits retail for $6.99 at Target.

Black Snow Bunny

Happy Friday!

Let’s make the winter fun! As the snow falls and there seems to be less to do, I need some excitement. So when all else fails, I put the excitement in wardrobe. I have to admit that I have not been as excited as I have in these past few months about dressing up. Actually, my arthritis has been kicking my behind. But I’m trying to get my “jooj” back…is that how how you spell it? (Hunches shoulders), oh well!

I’m pretty much a big fan of fur so I thought it would be pretty fun to do a four part series on how to wear fur pieces. The first is this fur stole. When you think of fur stoles surely you think of a glamorous era in time, perhaps the 40s when people really got dressed up to go out. Well all the pieces of this look revolve around this stole. I added a glamorous black dress, a crystal statement necklace, my favorite faux diamond studs and a sequin clutch for extra glam! It’s Friday so I’m cutting out of here to enjoy it so let me know what you guys think! Hopefully you can get an idea or two for whatever party you’re going to!

Goodbye 2016…

This year, to say the least has been kind of a difficult year. My rheumatologist told me that I had osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia to go along with the Hashimoto’s disease I already have. Amongst other things, these medical hiccups made blogging a bit more difficult. As the saying goes, “small things to a giant”. Right? Well, I must say that I am proud of myself! I stuck with my guns and continued to build on my blog.

I thought about sharing a behind the scenes post, so any potential bloggers can see the reality of blogging. It truly is work and not leisurely activity. Work that I enjoy! This year, I’ve worked with some amazing companies, shared some real life reviews and met some awesome people while networking. All of these (and more) have helped me experience growth this year. I’m proud of that growth. I worked hard this year and despite everything that seemed to work against me, I feel extremely accomplished.

I am thankful to all of you who take the time to read my posts and peek at my pictures. I appreciate so very much the growing support! Thank you to all of the companies that allowed me to review their products and those that collaborated with me. I hope to continue working relationships and build even more from here!

This post is not about my look but I’m glad to share what I’m wearing and where you can grab the pieces to complete this look. 2017 will bring more looks, ideas, life hacks, some d-i-y projects, reviews, lookbooks and more! The next post will be the last this year so let’s all wave (insert hand waving emoji here) bye to 2016! Hello 2017! Let’s all be great!

The Tiger Changes Her Stripes…

If you’ve been following my blog for a while then you may have figured out that I am a LOVER of stripes. Specifically, I have an affinity for black and white stripes. Black and white stripes is such a classic look from such a simple pattern. You don’t need to add much else to this pattern to make it great. I somehow always tend to be drawn to the black and white combination instead of branching out to other colors of this pattern. A tiger is allowed to change her stripes right?

That’s the thing about style, sometimes it revolves around feelings and circumstances. You can adjust and tweak your personal style as you grow and also to fit your feelings at the moment. I’ve changed and continue to evolve. If you do too, don’t feel bad. The fashion world does this all the time, they just called it “trends”.  Yep, sometimes it means going back to those old habits and loves. This is all a part of finding your “you” in style.

Lately I have been going back to my roots of shopping and extending my shopping searches to more than just the few places I had been before. This allows me to get a greater variety and choice of what I’m looking for. So a couple of months ago, I was able to pick up a striped dress at Justfab. Now the thing is, I had the option of grabbing my good ol comfortable, classic black and white combination but I opted for color instead.

The burgundy and navy combo is so beautiful…it’s quite classic in itself and I wanted to highlight the burgundy so I paired the dress with my suede burnt orange trench coat. The two warmer colors not only contrast but also highlight the navy in the dress allowing a great balance of color. The burgundy faux suede stiletto boots make the burgundy in the dress stand out as well as the texture of the coat. I simply added a simple choker and clutch to finish the look! Have you made any small changes to your style? If so, what changes and why?

Winter Time/Lumber “Jackie”

Yea so, if you live in the U.S., you know the weather is all over the place all over the country. It’s raining relentlessly in the south, cold in the normally warm west coast and cold in Texas. (Insert wide eyed emoji). I must say that I was not ready lol. Geez, I mean winter hasn’t officially arrived on the calendar but oh well. I had to get ready. Good thing I had been doing some shopping during the summer for fall and winter things here and there.

I grabbed this waterfall plaid vest that I’m wearing about 8 months ago. The original seller Choies, no longer has this in stock but I found an alternate seller because I love this vest (and you guys) so much! This vest is so warm and the design takes a normal lumber Jackie plaid look to a glamorous and chic level.

I am cold and there’s no other way around it so I needed to be comfortable first. I grabbed a faux leather jacket, a black turtleneck and a pair of black jeans. I added my new fave pair of booties, purchased from Target. They are so cozy and are designed after the wallabe shoe. The wedge on these boots allow my foot to stay warm and less likely to touch the snow. My faux leather adds extra texture and surprisingly warmth. The vest is the highlight of course and completes the layering aspect of this outfit. I’m outta here, going to grab me a coffee!

Pixel Eyewear Review

Happy Saturday loves!

So let me say how frightful the weather is this past week. There’s been precipitation on days that weather channels have predicted all day sun. Well you know what that means…staying in and more than likely being on my IPad. I’m always reading, surfing the net and researching.

Spending so much time online, especially since it’s dark in the room (it now gets dark in the four o’clock hour) because I don’t always have the lights on. I like the light on my pad to be really bright! My husband constantly complains about this light because it keeps him up. Well, this is true actually. The light is quite stimulating, especially for the person on the pad…me! I’ve been trying to figure out a solution besides turning down the light on my pad lol.

I’ve tried screen covers but I loathe them. They just seem to be “in the way”. Recently I was offered an amazing solution: eyewear made for being on electronic devices with bright screens! Pixel Eyewear (how accurate is that name?) is a company that provides protective eyewear specifically for those always attached a bright screen.

Pixel Eyewear boasts style and functionality so you don’t have to worry about looking crazy or terribly silly while protecting your eyes. You can continue to be stylish and look studious while working.

Just a brief rundown of the features of these glasses:

1. They have a blue filter that absorbs and reflects the infamous blue light that will cause eye strain and keep us up at night.

2. Allows for more a vivid viewing experience because it enhances the the colors in objects on your screen. (So not having that blue light blaring doesn’t take away from the intensity of color.)

3. These glasses are made with care. They will provide the eyes with 100% UV-protection (and the harmful blue light that eventually damages our eyes). The glasses are also anti-glare and scratch resistant.

4. Various sizes and styles to fit everyone. This is not one-size-fits all deal!

If you still have questions after reading my post, be sure to check out their website and FAQ for more information. In the meantime, if you’re interested in buying, I have a coupon code. Cause who doesn’t like to shop with one? Need help deciding which pair to get? Well (I did and I ended up grabbing the Capra in black) so check out their IG page or Website to get more inspiration!

Wait, before you relax and go to bed…

With fall almost over with and winter just about 3 weeks away, comfort is on everyone’s mind. It’s definitely something I am slightly obsessed with when it’s cold out. I would put being comfortable first and style around that. First let me say that I LOVE these slippers! My daughter has already claimed them. She now feels I’m teasing her when I’m wearing them around the house lol. It’s hilarious because she’s obsessed with these beautiful house shoes. Quite frankly, they are pretty cool! The slippers are EXTREMELY comfortable!!! I seriously wish all of my shoes felt like this. They hug your feet and provide perfect warmth and cozy feeling.

Since this is a life & style and fashion blog, it’s only right that we discuss the esthetics of these slippers. They are absolutely adorable and fabulous! Nowadays, tons of girls post about unicorns and all the colors that are usually represented alongside the unicorns and this is a “no brainer” as a gift for those unicorn lovers! The best part? They light up! You have to see this for yourself! Let me just share the details.

-Made of cotton & polyester.

-The light up effect is suppprted by LED lights that change between 6 different colors.

-One size fit all that ranges from about a size 6 to 11.5! (I wear a size 7.5/8).
