Friday Comfort: (Style How To)

Sometimes we have a lot going on in life and we just need a breather. Knowing that, we are drawn to more comfortable clothes to be in more of a relaxed state during stressful periods. Even beyond stress, in warmer weather it might be essential to chase comfort over strict style. But who says you can’t be stylish AND comfortable?

One thing that is comfortable is a dress. Now of course most people don’t think of a dress being comfortable. The idea of dress sort of links with dressing up. Not so much. If you have a flowy, rather loose fitting or a fit n flare style, it can be pulled off. Maxi dresses can also be cozy. The idea is to wear the dress that doesn’t need constant readjustments and allows you to move freely without restrictions. I opted for a fit n flare dress since I’m a bit bottom heavy. This type of dress doesn’t restrict my body nor show too much if you know what I mean. I feel the comfort of the dress around my waist so I’m not bothered by friction from the fabric.

When you’re looking for a good fit n flare dress, I suggest looking for one with seams that accentuate your shape or give the illusion of. My shoes are skin tone bit are comfy, although they are heels. I have a pair of flats with the same design if chose to get even more comfy. I added a different toned orange with my clutch to grab the essence of warmth and relaxation. Anyhoo, it’s Friday and I gotta get outta here but check out my pics and let me know what you think!

Happy Friday!!! 💋

Anti-Prep

Disclaimer: I apologize for the extremely late post.

I finally look my height (5′ 4″), and I must say that I’m excited lol. I just had to throw that in there. Okay, so business as usual. My look. I wanted to wear a sweater/button up blouse look but the problem with that is you end up looking preppy whether you want to or not. That is definitely not the look I am going for. That being said, I opted for sleeveless sheer blouse with a collar instead of the predictable non-sheer white solid. To further step away from the traditional prep look, I grabbed a bomb statement necklace I purchased from Purple Love. This necklace packs a “pow” factor that counters the normal dainty necklace or scarf that would be worn with the prep look. Quite rebellious huh? Lol. That’s the exact point.

Style is all about tweaking looks that aren’t “you” to make them just the way want to express your personality perfectly. That’s what makes styling fun. I threw on a hat on my messy pony for flirty but youthfully stern look. My boots are combat-like booties, high in heel, they give me a longer, leaner silhouette (even though I am getting thinner) and anyone can get that effect. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Now that you’ve seen what I’m wearing, let me know what you’re wearing or were wearing this Friday night!

Later Cupcakes!!

What Bloggers Do…

Initially, I was going to title this post by another name but I thought that it would just be fun to highlight some of the mishaps that happen to us bloggers…or at least happens to me as a blogger lol. So this is a behind the scenes sort of information post with the final results in pictures.

I got ready for this shoot, and as always, I do my makeup first. My hair is under this hat secretly (not so much a secret now lol) because it was wash day. Since I have so much hair to wash, I need HOURS to do this hair and I didn’t have that time appropriated, the hat that I am wearing became more than a fashion statement. I opted for a bold statement necklace from Purple Love (that I LOVE, not pun intended) and no earrings because every other accessory I am wearing is so bold. My bracelet is a coin charm style bracelet that I purchased from Forever 21 some ten years back. My bag is from JustFab and I think this particular style of bags is still on the site right now. My shoes were purchased from Urbanog.com years ago but this style came back around and you should be able to find something very similar on the site. I wanted to be warm but add a little funk to the outfit so I decided to wear some foot in leggings. My husband knew I had been looking for some and bought them from Target for me.

My fave part of this look happens to be the cardigan and the skater dress. I bought the skater dress a year ago from Forever 21 and they are still being sold on the Forever 21 online if you are interested. My cardigan was purchased from Naked Wardrobe online. I love this site so much as they have trendy items that can also be staple pieces in the wardrobe. The cardigan is a classy piece and adds this class to my outfit. It honestly is the highlight in my opinion. I love it so much I also bought it in black. In getting ready, I tore a hole in my dress (in the seam) trying to pull off a tag and then I also almost tore my cardigan because it got caught on my heel. Between NEEDING my hat, tearing my dress and almost snagging my sheer cardigan, this was one heck of a shoot!! Lol. Some of the things us bloggers go through. Not much but whew! For all of my hard work lol, please tell me what you think of my look!! I’ll be back Wednesday with another look!!

Until tomorrow for a Vox Box review…

Bye Cupcakes!!!

Effortless Looks: Casual Friday

This week has been all about effortless looks. We all know we have moments in time where we want to look fabulous but lack the energy to put together a look because it seems like too much work. I’ve shared a couple ways to wear fashionable but complicated free outfits.

In my Aaliyah voice: “it’s Friday!!! Hey!! And I’m ready to hang.” Okay so since this is Friday and we’re all ready to enjoy the weekend, I’ll make this post a quick one. There’s nothing more effortless than a pair of jeans and a tee or tank. Literally you can throw both on and have an automatic outfit!! I decided on a tank to pair with my jeans by PZI. What’s a tank and jeans without a statement necklace? I grabbed the one I’m wearing from Purple Love and I LOVE this necklace!!! I popped on a cropped faux leather jacket I bought on clearance years ago (this was my first time wearing it). Lastly, my shoes are from Missguided and I love them so!! They soften my entire look and add a feminine touch. I opted for arm candy by Layered Chains, a dainty gold bracelet and a knotted gold bangle for some class. My glasses were a gift from a seller on eBay. As always, please share what you think…I enjoy conversation. Until tomorrow…

Bye Cupcakes!! 💋

The "Purple Love" Experience

I had the pleasure of being invited to an event in Detroit that showcases Detroit’s own fabulous designers and business owners. The event, held at the Eastern Market, drew in folks from all over the metropolitan area to see what Detroit’s own had to offer. My invitation was extended by Brittany, owner and operator of Purple Love, a jewelry boutique.

The event displayed fancy, classic, as well as boho statement pieces. I was very impressed with not only the jewelry but the business as a whole. The owner is very sweet and fashionable herself. (I loved her boots btw, I have a similar pair lol).  The event offered mimosas, and other beverages among an array of yummy treats. There were gift bags for everyone invited that was in attendance filled with goodies. I thought the event ended at a later time (and arrived at the very end) but the owner was more than willing to still show me around and share what Purple Love had to offer. I got a few pieces after I tried on and fell in love with them. The pieces definitely catch the eye and are true statement pieces. Most necklaces come with earrings to match. If you like, check out Purple Love on Instagram and support Detroit! She included a 15% off coupon for all of my followers to get a discount to shop for great, stylish pieces. I’ve included the coupon code and pictures below! Until tomorrow…
