Denim Done Right!

Jeans have been around for a long time. Since they’ve become part of fashion they’ve evolve and expanded in style to the simple category of: denim. Denim is coveted as an intricate part of casual wear but is often layered for classic looks as well. The variety available is expanded more than before and now denim has become a popular part of current trends.

We’ve loved denim jackets for a few decades now but over the past few years, they’ve become increasingly popular. I remember wearing denim in the 90s when there was no thought really put into wearing them, there was such an abundance of jean jackets that it was hard not to just buy one and wear it.

Since the overload of the denim trend is back around, I decided to add more of it to my personal wardrobe. I paired two pieces of denim with similar washes. It makes the outfit appear more uniform. This isn’t my first denim on denim look. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not buying a trendy design but participating in a trend with a staple piece is not a bad idea. My outfit is denim on denim and I am wearing a denim button up dress as a maxi denim cardigan/top. I’ll share my thoughts on this subject a couple of blogs from now. In the meantime, how do you wear your denim? I’ll be back tomorrow with a brief review…

Lazy Days 2016

Yep! Lazy days again. It’s the middle of summer and I celebrated my anniversary this past weekend. Last year, I had my lazy day very late into summer, in August. The day we shot that, a small tragedy struck. This year, after celebrating, I just wanted to relax and look good while doing it. I bought a coral maxi dress a few years back and I’m just getting around to wearing it. I thought it would be the perfect piece in my wardrobe to wear for a day to relax.

It’s that girly “time” for me, that all of us girls love (shameless sarcasm) and I didn’t feel like heels or a lot of extra details. Usually, I like to do more reading for some reason. I chose to grab my large straw bag for dumping comfort and essentials in. This bag is so roomy I can just load up on healthy snacks, water and the rest of my reading materials. I tied a scarf around my high bun for an extra touch. My accessories are pretty simple, hoop earrings and charm bracelets inspired by the ones you see at Alex and Ani. I’m wearing simple black flat sandals for another layer of comfort. You can literally do so many things with this look. I ran errands, got some work done and relaxed the rest of the day (with some more working in between of course lol). How do you dress on lazy days?

From Mod to Modern

I was one of those people waiting on warmer weather here in Michigan and am thoroughly elated that it’s here. We’ve been experiencing warmer than normal temperatures (not complaining lol) so when cooler weather rolled in, I enjoyed the brief change. It was just the right temperature that I could rock my high waisted black jeans. I wanted a sleek yet mod inspired look.

Way back when, I thrifted a striped swimsuit that I converted into a bodysuit to wear as a top with my black jeans. The stripes in the bodysuit gives of mod vibes but paired with the jeans offers more of a modern appeal. I chose red block heels to bring out the pop of color in my bodysuit. My neck candy, a gold cuff choker emphasizes the bar-like stripes in the look and my black clutch keeps from drawing attention AWAY from the modern mod details. I almost opted for my favorite black and white chevron clutch. Anyhoo, let me know what you think of my look!!

Side note: my natural hair is in a high bun again for a modern, fresh look. It’s an easy breezy style!
