Casual Monday: Grandpa Cardigan & DenimĀ

Here it is, one third of the year has almost passed and it’s still less than 50 degrees outside. I know, you haven’t heard me talk about the weather in a while. Lol. Well, I can’t help it this time! It’s the first day of April and it no longer feels like spring. In fact, we actually have snow in the forecast for next week! I guess you’ll be able to see how I feel about that in my look for today lol.

You guys probably know by now that on Fridays I don’t like to keep you here reading. We’ve got to get out and enjoy our weekends!!! Well, I’m sure you’d like to relax this Monday. So let’s discuss the look for today. Today I’m wearing what I call a “grandpa cardigan”. I love this this thing. It’s warm and it reminds of a sweater that  Grady from the sitcom Sanford & Son would wear. To sass up the look, I decided to wear my Detroit Is The New Black V-neck tee off the shoulder style along with skinny jeans and Steve Madden wedge shoes. I’m wearing a black choker for a simple bit of sexiness above the cardigan. Honestly, the way I’m wearing the DITNB tee, the jeans and the Steve Madden wedge shoes all add sexiness to balance the mature look of the “grandpa cardigan”. Let me know what you think! Deets below…

ImpromptuĀ Post…

I’ve had a lot of inspiration lately. Any and everything inspires me. Life has run a muck sort-to-speak in my world. I’ve been swamped and haven’t had the chance to post so quite frankly, this is an impromptu post. I wasn’t going to post this until tomorrow but since I’ve been too swamped to post in a while, I thought posting today is only fair. There will still be another post tomorrow as well, all posts will get moved up. I wish I had more to say this time but honestly I’m exhausted. I have a few reviews posting this week and three more outfit posts this week. Things in life are not back to normal and they never will be but I learned a lot this year. I’ve formed closer bonds with loving friends, closed chapters and been forced to become stronger than I thought I ever could be. This post is a bit more emotional than normal but I will back to my style explaining self tomorrow.

I love the darkness in this look. It offers so much depth and mystery but is till feminine. It’s a bit cool but my adrenaline allowed for me to wear this sheer Ā trench coat style cardigan over my outfit. I’m sporting a crop top from Forever 21. This is weird fitting top. I’m hoping to find this color in a turtleneck shirt. Anyhoo, my shorts are black and white plaid, vintage and thrifted. I love the contrast against my crop top. Now I know you must be thinking, “why didn’t she show skin” but I have two good reasons. One, I wanted a layered look. Two, I was just not loving the look of this fit without something underneath. Regardless, I think that the look came together. What do you think? Check the blog for another outfit post tomorrow….

Bye Cupcakes!

Shopping My Closet: Fur Boots

Since it has gotten increasingly colder these past couple of weeks, I have been grabbing for my boots. I have only purchased one new pair this year because honestly, I have my own shoe store lol. That being said, I recently pulled out my rabbit fur and leather boots, purchasedĀ from Bakers…you guessed it…years and years ago! These boots boast a pointy toe and a silver buckle detail on the shaft. The boots are calf height boots and are so warm and comfy. This was one of my first big wardrobe purchases as an adult. I can’t tell you how excited I was aboutĀ these boots. To actually purchase “genuine leather” anything nowadays costs and arm and a leg, so these boots were truly an investment when I purchased them. They’ve held up quite nicely and at the time that I purchased them, they weren’t more than a hundred bucks!!

I love to shop my closet and I am finding myself leaning towards purchasing investment items for my wardrobe now more than ever. That is what finding your own style is all about. Now, lets get into the “deets” of this outfit. So, I chose another staple piece that I purchased years ago for this look and that’s my hat from Forever 21. I thought that this would be cute with some plain ole jeans and a cropped top that I wore underneath a thrifted sheer, sleeveless blouse that I instead utilized as a short cardigan. My jewelry is quite simple, arm candy is from Aldo and my necklace is from Neon Wild. I chose a lighter lavender lip to brighten up the look. My bag was handmade by Turquoise Soul Bags. They have great stuff and not just handbags!!

I hope you like my fit! Always shop your closet first before you hit the stores. When shopping, purchase statement pieces and essentials as well as investment pieces that continue to come back around in the fashion world…but only according to your own style of course. Don’t be afraid to use pieces for other than their intended purpose and remember to have fun with your style!! You can’t go wrong, style is your personality and your expressed opinion of fashion!! Until Friday…

Bye Cupcakes!!
