Lazy Days 2016

Yep! Lazy days again. It’s the middle of summer and I celebrated my anniversary this past weekend. Last year, I had my lazy day very late into summer, in August. The day we shot that, a small tragedy struck. This year, after celebrating, I just wanted to relax and look good while doing it. I bought a coral maxi dress a few years back and I’m just getting around to wearing it. I thought it would be the perfect piece in my wardrobe to wear for a day to relax.

It’s that girly “time” for me, that all of us girls love (shameless sarcasm) and I didn’t feel like heels or a lot of extra details. Usually, I like to do more reading for some reason. I chose to grab my large straw bag for dumping comfort and essentials in. This bag is so roomy I can just load up on healthy snacks, water and the rest of my reading materials. I tied a scarf around my high bun for an extra touch. My accessories are pretty simple, hoop earrings and charm bracelets inspired by the ones you see at Alex and Ani. I’m wearing simple black flat sandals for another layer of comfort. You can literally do so many things with this look. I ran errands, got some work done and relaxed the rest of the day (with some more working in between of course lol). How do you dress on lazy days?

Hot Days & Cooler Nights

Note: Very short post.

After a long break from social media to enjoy my 13th anniversary with hubby ( and to maintain my mental health) I am back to share this look I’m wearing. Now although the days are super hot, the nights can drop down in the 50s. With no sun, that can be pretty cool. The solution? I added a light to medium weight cargo jacket to my outfit. It also adds a “polished” layer of look to the entire outfit. I am wearing a tank and some denim shorts because lately I’ve been bent on comfort and simplicity. The chicest part of my look would be my sunnies. It pulls the entire look together. Let me know what you guys think! I’m getting out of here to go find some shade lol. I’ve got a few fun posts coming up but until then…

The Line By K (When It’s Hot)

As time goes by, I become more and more a fan of clean silhouettes and simplistic style. Of course I’ve stated this more than once before but it deserves a mention since I will be mentioning one of my new fave clothing lines, The Line by K. “K” is actually famous style blogger Karla Deras. Her clothes boast simple yet chic designs, made to accentuate the natural shape of the lady wearing each piece!

I had previously seen her pieces around the internet and my interest was piqued. At the time however, my body was NOWHERE near where I wanted it to be. I’m still definitely a work in progress but I am much more satisfied now with how my purchase from (The Line by K) fit. I grabbed her dress. It’s a button down design that is micro ribbed. This dress is very easy to style because it has sophistication and it’s perfect for casual events. Just add a clutch and minimalist heels for a complete look!

What I wanted to wear was a pair of leopard print heels and a light pink clutch. Both accessories are a good neutral against the aqua of this dress. Although the pink adds an additional pop of color and the shoes a bit of wildness with the print, they are both relatively neutral because they wouldn’t detract from the appeal of the dress. Instead I wore dark nude simple heels and no bag because it’s so hot and humid. I added a simple gold statement necklace and gold hoop earrings. A look fit for many occasions! Don’t forget to click the links to find items from my look! I don’t get paid, I promise I’m just being a good connect lol.

Shopping Bare/The Stylist

So I am uber excited to share some great news guys!! I am officially a stylist!!! Whew hoo!!! I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that my work will be in print! I’ve worked so hard! Through ups and down moments of being a style blogger, I finally feel like I’m headed in a good direction. Am I scared? I’m petrified! But I got this! Being scared is a good thing and allows for a person to accomplish a goal, build on self confidence and to be resourceful. I’ve been a little less present on my blog as I like but I needed to refocus and make a plan. That I’ve done. Now time to flourish!! I hope you all accompany me for the ride! Now onto my look…

So since I am now officially a stylist I wanted to dress the part. It’s Friday so I’ll be quick so we can get to enjoy our four day weekend! The highlight of my look are my striped bell bottom pants from Shopping Bare. Soooo comfy and stylish that they allow me to be able bend move when shopping for my client. The best part? They transition right into night time gear! Yup, I’d wear these right out! With my pants I paired a choker  detailed crop top. It’s long sleeved and worn under a longline flowy vest for a professional touch. My hat adds an eclectic touch to this look and remedies my bad hair day at the same time lol. My shoes and glasses are a pop of color (red). The glasses meant to give that “look” of a stylist. Okay, so that’s it! I’m out of here but leave your thoughts if you want to chat!

Autumn in the Summer Time

We’re smack dab in the middle of summer and what am I thinking of? You guessed it, fall! I can’t help it! My husband always says that I have the mind of a designer. I think about fashion and seasons one season or two ahead of the current season. The advantage? I can properly purge and rebuild my wardrobe so that I am not scrambling when the next season rolls around. I am starting my seasonal transition into fall right now.

First way to transition from one season to the next is with color. As much as I love spring and summer colors, I love fall colors just as much. The colors are so deep and passionate. As I’m shopping, im grabbing more plums, greens (hunter and kelly), navy blues, grays and blacks. In this current outfit I’m wearing a transition color of green. I paired a green tee dress (tied to be used as a shirt) with my black tribal print shorts that I thrifted. The color coordination is literally a no brainer. I deepened the color palette of this look by adding a black statement necklace and black platform heels which help to elongate my otherwise short legs. I grabbed a simple black clutch and my Aztec print clipboard (since I’m officially a stylist) to complete the look. Are you doing a slow transition into fall? Let me know if you’ve been shopping….

In Contrast…

I’m on a quest to keep color in my closet as my style changes again. Now of course although my style changes I keep certain things as signature to me. I’ve again been purging, getting rid a lot of thrifted items that are vibrant and full of multicolors. By the way, if you ever are interested in an item I’m wearing, feel free to shoot me an email or comment below!

I’ve been shopping for autumn attire (yes I know) and although it seems too soon, it’s a great time to get an idea of what you want in your wardrobe for the upcoming season. Anyhoo, one thing that will always be in my favorite styling ideas is contrasting colors and patterns for a bold look. Contrasting colors is always a great way to allow multiple colors to pop and stand out in an outfit. The easiest way to contrast? Black and white with a bright and bold color!

I did a little more contrasting with my look to grab your attention on not only my clothing but also my accessories. It’s okay to throw in some print. The print in my clutch already has a pattern of contrasting colors so it adds yet another “layer” to my look. My shoes are a bit of a nude without having to be skin tone, a medium gray color. These shoes help to elongate my legs but stand out against my skin at the same time. The statement necklace is the boldness in accessories needed to match extravagance of the cape. Let me know what you guys think!

(How To) Midweek Casual + Slight Glam

When the kiddies are out of school, I am always planning ways to enjoy adulthood outside of being a mom. No school means no endless amounts of homework so I can get out after five during the week. Let me tell you, I certainly advise having a life lol. Anyhoo, going to grab drinks with the girls is always a good idea. No one wants to go out in full dressed gear on a weekday after a full day of juvenile activities and work. Well, some people want to still be a bit casual but have that after five appeal.

Lately, (because I think my style is again evolving) I’ve been less into boho and more into a polished, glam and classic look. It was a cooler day so I grabbed a white pair of jeans and paired it with a simple nude tank. Now, the colors are pretty muted but are a nice base to add some glam. So here’s the tip: the quickest way to glam up any look is to add black, sequins, or heels. All of these things are quite inexpensive. Always have a staple pair of simple heels that can be paired with any skirt, pants, shirts or dress. I chose my black feather heeled sandals and a sequin clutch bag for that easy and quick touch of glitz. This look is easy peezy, simple and quick. I’ll be doing more of these looks and morphing again style wise lol.

Styling The White Tank (Look #1)Β

So it’s officially summer!!! Yay!!! I don’t know about you but it’s my second favorite season! During the summer, it’s not fun to pile on a bunch of clothes when it’s hot. It’s been quite warm here in Michigan, some days topping off in 90s. I’m definitely nor complaining because the summer months always seem to fly by. Knowing it’s hot leads me to thinking about style in more of a minimalist way.

I decided, why not do a series of looks featuring every closet’s must have…a white tank top! For the first look, I’m styling the tank with a midi pencil skirt. This skirt is so comfortable, breathable and lightweight that it’s perfect for the summer. The color is a cornflower blue and is a nice compliment to the white. It’s not pastel so it doesn’t leave the outfit looking dainty or juvenile. I added a “lightweight” statement necklace so as to not overwhelm the look. I decided this look needed a bit of vamp so I strapped on my plum colored platform sandals. The plum color isn’t the only thing that adds to the boldness. The platforms elongates the body, giving the outfit a commanding look. The color offers a balance to the white and soft shade of blue while the necklace ties all the colors together against my bronzed tanned skin. My accessories are minimal to keep with the polished simplicity of this look. Side note: my hair is in an old wash n go. It’s time to wash but I’ll let you know how I like Curls Blueberry Jelly in a future post…

Rain CheckΒ

Even the most stylish bloggers have days when they’d much rather relax over getting dressed to the max. I promise I’m no different, in fact you guys have seen looks that I’ve worn toned and relaxed pieces. Those looks were authentic to my mood in that moment. Sometimes the weather is a sole determining factor in my mood (but just for a little while lol).

It’s been raining and that’s an awesome thing because I’m different than the person who LOVES sunshine everyday. I love a good cloudy day. To me, it encourages movies, a good book and good company. Who doesn’t like those things? Lol. Well, with all the rain I’ve been in more of a relaxed and chill mood. If you want to be stylish, a maxi dress is the easiest option. I thrifted a dress this past winter and it’s the perfect dress for the occasion. I’m fully relaxed, and can jump up to run errands if need be. My flat sandals are from Target. I wore minimal jewelry which further emphasizes my chilled look! I’ll take a rain check on getting dressed up (wink, wink). Let me know what you think!

Mixed Prints, Colors & Moods

Warning: short post…

One fashion trend that seems to never go out of style is mixing prints, patterns and colors. We see mixing all the time. Actually, not only are prints often mixed but so are fabrics.

I bought a micro-pleated skirt from Etsy a few months back and it’s a silk skirt that is bold with undefined color. It pretty much projects a rainbow of pinks, purples and other colors that of a reddish hue. There are turquoise and yellow that pop against the pinks. I LOVE multi colored prints that offer versatility in styling.

I grabbed my taupe and black striped bodysuit to pair with my multi-colored skirt. The black and taupe acts as a base against the color. My bodysuit is a bit off the shoulder and I just wore it with one shoulder out for a bit of sass. My heels are gladiator style to balance the look as well as the color and my handbag solidifies the look with a modern, sophisticated touch. I didn’t want the look to project as vintage so the bag detracts from that style. I have minimal accessories so as to not overwhelm the outfit with too many details. Check out the pics!
